Anyone playing in one game of the double header can absolutely do this and predict for the other game FYI.

Round 13 of the TV game show (Match Prediction Contest) is in the books. Sorry for the delay of the update, but it was a great night for buzzerbeater! First a second half comeback for the Bananahorns. It was a sheer battle of will between to 3-2 zone defenses that made the 3 ball a luxury. The foul out by Yula freed up Hedrick to give the Horns another avenue of attack, and eventually the win. This is a bigger game then we thought as the Bananahorns now have a serious lead on relegation candidates below and the Hornets and now losing ground to the playoff chasers. This might be a matchup we see in the playoffs. On the other matchup it was a thorough beating in every avenue. The archers sealing the victory and holding it until the end. Almost especially it felt like the Archers were opressive on the glass nearly doubling the Xenos on the boards. Nonetheless some above average shooting from behind the arc for the Xenos kept them in the game throughout. This win was really mixed in how it impacted the standings. The archers remain in the playoffs with a fabulous point differiential to fend off 5th place. Meanwhile the Xenos were able to minimize a tough losing effort away from home. They will remain in 3rd with a heavy point differiential in their favor as well. Can they hang on to their playoffs place for one more game before being back in Great 8 play? We are excited to watch and find out.

As for next gameday...

Tuesday 4/30/2024 8:00:00 PM 1st Place Mighty Moose Rockets @ 5th Place Slabs

Summary: This looks to be a fairly one sided matchup. As the Rockets have dominated most of the league thus far. Sporting the best defense and largest point differiential socring their opponents by an average of 102 to 71. The slabs are the highest scoring team in the league though averaging 113.1 points a game.

Injury/Transfers: No injuries but the aquistion of Hannu Westman at SF for the Rockets is sure to be felt in this matchup. (Side note that the Rockets average player salary nearly doubles that of the Slabs. 39k to 19k)

Last Matchup: In a funny twist of fate, Slabs have played against the Rockets three times since Season 62. Both games in league-play were wins by the Rockets. However, the Slabs drew the Rockets in the 3rd round of the USA Tournament and won 121 to 80. This might be a revenge match.

Ramifications: The Rockets are fairly secure, but the Slabs feel the free air of 4th place just a win away. Also they like their odds against 7th place in a relegation series. They don't want to drop down to 6th. Can they hang on to their league place in their last matchup before facing the Great 8 once again?

The slabs have done an incredible job staying out of garbage time and even getting solit wins while not being around much.

Round 14 of the TV game show (Match Prediction Contest) is in the books.
Winner: Slabs got off to an early lead, but after a dominate 2nd and 3rd quarter the Rockets were securely ahead winning it all by 28 points.

Summary: The game-day prep from the rockets was perfect. The tricky motion offense of the Slabs was locked down, going 36% from the field and just 25% from the behind the arc. Meanwhile the Rockets went 54% from the field and 61% from 3pt range.

Questions: We do have some questions though. The offense was sound, but ratings wise the rockets didn't put up big numbers. Will that make them vulnerable in the final stretch of the season. Now that the Slabs are a game and sizeable point differential away from 4th. How will they change their tactics going into the playoff or relegation series?

Final Score: Mighty Moose Rockets 117 @ Slabs 89

Mighty Moose Rockets 117
Pos - Player of the Game (Pts, Asts, Rebs)
PF - I. Balaban (48, 3, 10)

Team Ratings:
Highest - Perimeter Defense (11.3)
Lowest - Rebounding/Offensive Flow (5.7)

Slabs 89
Pos - Player of the Game (Pts, Asts, Rebs)
SG - B. Rosa (33, 0, 9)

Team Ratings:
Highest - Outside Scoring (9.3)
Lowest - Rebounding (4.3)

As for next gameday...

Saturday 5/4/2024 8:00:00 PM 2nd Place Drunken Sconnies @ 1st Place Rashmonsters

Summary: Rashmonster has the best defense in the Great 8 holding all teams to 86 points a game on average. Whereas the Sconnies have the joint highest FG% in the entire league, 47.2%. We know that Rashmonsters have inside talent but the rebounds give them second chances. They average 60 rebounds a game, nearly 16 boards more than the Sconnies. The Sconnies are no slouch though with a league leading 8.2 blocks a game. Who will win the battle inside this matchup? What will it mean for the playoffs. Will these teams need deadlines acquisitions?

Injury/Transfers: No injuries, No new transfers. Maybe Drunken has the slight edge in the game shape department.

Last Matchup: The wins stand at Sconnies 4, Rashmosters 2, all-time. Most recent was a thrilling early season TV matchup at the Old Milwaukee Arena (Sconnies) with Rashmonsters winning away in OT, 118-114. The inside attack of the Rashmonsters was a big impact in that game. Can the Sconnies best them here?

Ramifications: Not a lot to play for as these two are running away for the pack in the conference. Tough to say who has the easier first round matchup in River Monsters or Evergreen Xenos in the Great 8.
