This was a very difficult decision for me. I spent 15 seasons in charge and was never able it achieve any goals set. This plus my real life becoming more stressful and difficult with 2 young children, I decided to step down as u21 manager to allow for someone new to try their ideas and see if they can be successful with their goals.
As with BB ruling, when a NT/u21 manager steps down early, the runner up in the last election takes over. While no one was officially the runner up last time, Alonso had ran against me for most of the election but stepped down after I had decided to go for one last run. So Alonso was unofficially the runner up in the last election.
We have been in discussions about his plans, hopes and enthusiasm for the role and I believe he was best to takeover, in absence of Testudo wanting to take the role, who had been my assistant for such a long time. I believe if we can buy in to Alonso’s methods for the u21s we can achieve great things.
