Season 71 Nations of Europe Start of Season Report Part 1:-

Scores next to team names are the average player ratings for the whole team at the end of season 70.

Until option to swich garbage time on and off available, or Buzzerbeater or BuzzerManager allows me access to further data, average player ratings isn't the most accurate way to compare teams, but it IS enough info to compare like for like and give managers an idea of how much they may need to improve to get the position they are aiming for.

It is also so early in a new season that that some teams may be strengthening / starting a rebuild or planning to bot and therefore all the below may change quite drastically. But this should still give an idea of where everybody compares as of today.

Promoted teams from division 3 have *P, relegated teams from ESL have *R

Any obvious errors let me know & I'll fix when I have the time to.

These conferences presented in reverse order of toughness:

#8 - II.4 Big 8 - 62.9 total rating - average team strength 7.9

10.9 - Hull Radom
10.2 - Barcelona Dragons
09.3 - Botanical Power
07.4 - Locomotiva Flamers
06.9 - Banana Tropical
06.8 - Valur *P
06.3 - Pic Pedrosa
05.1 - Ironvale *P

Top end is pretty reasonable, but Barcelona are having a bit of a sale and if they weaken then you have 1 team left that average 10. In some of the later conferences there are 5 now as NoE division 2 quality seems to be deepening. Therefore bottom place currently although...

#7 - II.4 Great 8 - 63.5 total rating - average team strength 7.9

12.0 - Wazowski Harley Riders *R
11.4 - Smoki Wawelskie *R
08.7 - Berzerkers Ball Club
08.3 - Mackattack
07.9 - MT Andorra
05.5 - Escaldes Engordany *P
04.9 - Polkuis *P
04.8 - Rocalux *P

...this conference could easily be worse if Wazowski does bot his team as he said he might. Even with him and Smoki Wawelski, this conference is barely better largely as the previous conference had only 1 promoted team and this has 3.

#6 - II.2 Great 8 - 68.0 total rating - average team strength 8.5

12.9 - Santa Booker
12.4 - Locomotive Edinburgh
11.1 - Raging Seagull
09.9 - Glasgow Raptors
07.4 - Yerevan *P
04.9 - CrvJeep
04.7 - Milsami
04.7 - Laikers *P

Noticeably stronger and deeper top half of this conference compared to #8 & #7, Yerevan are the 2nd strongest promotion team (by a whole 0.1 rating over Ciocan Lakers!), but the bottom 3 teams could be in for a tough season.

#5 - II.1 Big 8 - 71.3 total rating - average team strength 8.9

11.7 - Minas Morgul
11.7 - Devstry
10.8 - Victoria Killers
10.4 - Ucigasii
08.7 - Blindhead
07.9 - BBBall
05.7 - Chapuraz *P
04.4 - Vellaznimi *P (Was PMR Panthers)

Another step up in class. Minas Morgul is on an obvious rebuild and as all remaining players are Albanian, it may be a homegrown-only plan? Only Eddy himself can say! This still leaves 3 strong sides and 2 decent sides even if so, but as of today #5 seems fair.

#4 - II.3 Big 8 - 71.7 total rating - average team strength 9.0

11.5 - Cleveland Sparta
10.8 - Flower of Scotland
10.5 - Hawkboys
10.3 - Sporting Club Vikingur
09.5 - The Dabberz
07.3 - Ciocan Lakers *P
06.6 - Fellarnir *P
05.2 - BC Sawmill *P

Two of the stronger promotion teams join a conference that is already decent and deep, but the lack of any 12+ rating teams puts this conference #4.

Season 71 Nations of Europe Start of Season Report Part 2 - The Power conferences!

#3 - II.2 Big 8 - 78.6 total rating - average team strength 9.8

13.6 - KOTAYK *R
12.8 - Skytturnar
10.8 - Revolta Culé, B.C.
10.7 - Dropito
10.2 - Chicago Bulbs II
08.5 - Duncan Donuts 2.0 *P
06.6 - F1 Ferrari *P
05.5 - Comandaranga

There is a reason part 2 starts here. An already above-average strength conference gets the strongest ESL relegatee, the strongest 3rd division promotion team, and an above average promoted team on top of that. Chicago still likely rebuilding but Skytturnar is basically Wile E Coyote here and KOTAYK is an Acme brand anvil.

#2 - II.1 Great 8 - 79.3 total rating - average team strength 9.9

13.0 - Malta Pissedons
11.6 - Bardagakappi
11.1 - The Others
10.8 - The Red Hammers
10.2 - Virtus Floriana
08.2 - KB Peja
07.3 - CUX United
07.1 - Olympique Balti *P

Very strong top side, some real depth, and Olympique Balti as one of the stronger promotion teams can feel a little hard done by to end up here where in the bottom 3 conferences, they could at worst plan for 5th. Which leaves...

#1 - II.3 Great 8 - 80.3 total rating - average team strength 10.0

13.4 - Valletta
11.5 - Icelandia *R
11.3 - The Brick Squad
11.3 - Fighting Cats
10.8 - Cythruliad Conwy
08.9 - Pastizzi
08.3 - The Cabbage
04.8 - White Stork *P*

By average player rating Valletta was the single strongest team that did not promote, Icelandia is an ESL relegatee, the top 4 are over 11, and Pastizzi and The Cabbage have been trending up their entire existences. White Stork must have been horrified to see where he ended up! So the traditional "conference of death" seems to be remaining so, and even if Cythruliad Conwy rebuild then this would STILL be a very strong conference.

Relegated division II teams and how they compared to the above :-

Bumper selection of these this year, III.1 almost could be a II.5!

06.8 - BigBunda
06.7 - Bibby Brotherhood
05.7 - Petrocub Moldova
05.3 - Associatia Firenze-Chisinau
05.2 - Vella Aloja
05.2 - Mână moartă
05.1 - Qintara
04.3 - Karabasket
04.2 - Razs Legends BC
04.1 - Llegendes d'Andorra
