Press Announcements

Group play: Saudi Arabia

Tonight's opening is of our warriors in action with their club teams and of communicating with their club coaches morphing into action while wearing the national kits.

Announcer: as our journey continues the progression of the squad is a true collaboration between team manager and the club's who have players on the team. To those who have had their players conscripted to be part of this club thanks so much for your efforts in not just improving your players but on being conscious of keeping them in good shape. It is a policy which is good for all parties involved. It is also essential to the fortunes of this team going forward.

This week the fine tuning continues. First piece of business is winning the game, and while the matchups seem to favor our squad nothing can be taken from granted. Plus this is a game essential to getting out of group play as the stubbing of toes in the opener has made every game essential.

post script: and that went from stubbing a toe to getting your nads chopped off. The thing is everything seemed in control, ragged but a working margin was established which grew to 12 late in the 3rd. But Everytime it seemed the knockout was ready to be thrown the Saudis would hang around. Then towards the end the wheels came off. Was lucky to stretch it to overtime and in the extra session it all went to hell. Missed the first 8 shots, and about 6 free throws. A last second flurry from three got it close but time ran out. The 9-23 from the line is the most telling stat, that will lose a tight game Everytime. And now with a step up in class on the horizon for the next two games it looks like getting out of group is shaky at best.
