http://bbcanada.forumotion.comSeason 13 saw the U21 team play in the World Championships for the first time, and it ended up being a very short run. With a whole new team ready to hit the court in season 14, our main goal will be to find a way back to the World Championships for season 15, and hopefully do a little bit better next time.
This will not be an easy goal to attain, as we would need to make the finals of the Americas Championship Tournament to qualify directly to World's. We managed to do this back in season 12, but we had home court advantage for that season. This season, the tournament will be hosted by Argentina, a strong BB country that regularly sends out some very good U21 teams.
If we are unable to fight our way to a top 2 finish, then I think it makes sense for us to aim for 3rd - 6th place. There are 4 spots in the second chance qualifiers, which will be played early in season 15. As the U21 projects to have a very good roster for season 15, a trip to the repechage could possibly give us a genuine "second chance" at a second straight appearance at World's.
Looking ahead to the end goals for this season, though, is looking fairly far into the future. For now, we have a solid group of players, and a chance to play some fun and exciting games. We also currently have a world ranking of 9th, right between the 8th ranked United States, and the 10th ranked Argentinians. This ranking reflects how well the team played in recent seasons, and while we'll need a little luck, the U21 team will work hard to keep proudly representing Canadian BB.
