Press Announcements

Chuck Knight wins MVP

20 year old big Man Chuck Knight was last night awarded the NZ U21 MVP award for the season. Chuck had some monster games in some of NZ's big wins this season, including 17 and 12 against Japan, 16 and 10 in the win over Malaysia, a filthy 28 and 18 in the destruction of Korea, a simple 17 and 10 in the defeat of Thailand, and then lead the team with 23 and 12 in their only 2nd round win over Pakistan. Chuck will be back next year to captain the team in the consolation tournament.

MVP Voting
MVP Pts GP PPG rbpg apg
1st Chuck Knight 13 11 13.0 10.2 2.4
2nd Alun Misster 10 10 11.4 6.8 2.7
3rd= Vincent Arkless 6 10 9.2 2.3 2.7
3rd= Leroy Reibel 6 10 12.7 4.1 2.2
5th= Brody Mcdonald 5 11 7.2 3.4 3.9
5th= Dain Gilhooly 5 10 8.9 3.4 1.6

Dain Gilhooley also finished his U21 career after playing in 24 competitive U21 games. Expect to see Dain in a Snr jersey in the coming seasons, as him and Leroy Reibel are the two players with the potential and manager training ability to make it to the national team. Both players look set to continue on being outside SF's. In reality their will only be room for one of these guys, so they can expect to match up against each other for years to come.
