I'll post this announcement here on Scores Thread as well, because I don't know if all managers read both HGL Threads as actively as in ideal world:

I've now released updated HGL team stats (45 stats categories), which reflect teams' success after Regular Season Round 9 (on Season 4, of course). Last publication day was after Round 4, so plenty of changes have taken place since.

See it for yourself, here:

Some previews of selected S4 RS Round 10 matches, on Friday February 20th, 2026:

VDT-BCR:

This should be a treat to follow. VDT is a clear underdog in top8-salaries with 258K to K difference, but has proven his strength against mid-class teams such as myself, who they beat by 10 points just a moment ago. I on the other hand was able to beat BCR in the overtime. So based on that simple theory, this could become a coinflip, yes?

BCR seems to be ahead in some statistics, such as Total REB%, AST/TO-ratio, FTA/match, in ability to draw fouls, in TO's.

VDT on the other hand has slightly better shooting stats, including FG%, PTS/FGA (field goal attempt), and eFG% (effective field goal %). BCR is also a co-leader in scoring offense with 110,9 PPG.

Havind said all this, I'd find BCR to be a favorite to some extent, but I don't mind at all if VDT proves me wrong - remember, I'm always a neutral person what becomes to analysis, regardless of what I write in my previews/reviews. :)

RAJ-KKS:
One of the most important/interesting matches of the whole HGL RS, between two strong (silver?) medal candidates in HGL Season 4.

Based on statistics, KKS is (with VPO) one of two best defending teams in HGL (based on my interpretation, see the stats for yourself).

Also KKS's offensive rebounding ability is #1 in HGL - they take more than 1 out of 3 rebounds on offensive glass so better be prepared for that! Also, beware of their blocks; KKS blocks astounding 11,8 times in a match (while allowing to be blocked only 3,7 times themselves), which equals to 15,7% (!) of their opponents attacks ending in KKS's block - this is clear number one value in HGL, followed by VPO's 12,0% and MAD´s 9,0%.

KKS plays the slowest tempo in whole HGL, while RAJ playing at middle pace.

KKS's scoring defense is also suffocating, allowing all league leading numbers: 77,3PPG, 31,5% OPP.FG-% (RAJ 3rd at 38,1%), 18,3% OPP 3FG-% (RAJ 6th at 29,6%), 33,4% OPP Eff.FG% (RAJ 3rd at 40,9%).

While KKS excels in defense, RAJ is slightly better in some shooting stats, such as being a HGL co-leader in PTS/FGA (1,02; while KKS is tied 10th with 0,92), 2nd in HGL in eFG% with 51,2% (KKS is ranked 10th with 45,9%), and 1st in 2P FG% with 51,7% (KKS is 11th with 46,0%).

There's also a clear bias difference, as RAJ shoots threes 22,5% of their FG attempts, while KKS posts almost lowest number of the league (rank 17) in this category with only 15,5%.

I do think KKS could be favorite of some sort here, but as past Seasons and this Season 4 has shown, you should never underestimate RAJ.

ED-VIV:
HGL Team Stats-posts imply that this could be an even one, with VIV being a favorite of some sort perhaps.

For example VIV is a bit better in shooting, but ED on the other hand is better in shooting defense.

ED has a clear inside shot focus with 84,2% of their FG's being 2P shots (HGL #3), while VIV ranks #16 in this category with 74,8%.

VIV has a good reason for shooting big amount of threes, as they're 4th in HGL in 3P% with 37,4% (ED is second to last at 23,4%). VIV has an interesting combination of being able to score beyond the 3 point at 37,4% accuracy, while being able to restrict opponents to impressively low 20,6% (#3) beyond the arc (ED 9th at 32,3%).

VIV's offensive efficiency also translates to impressive numbers in PTS/FGA (#3 at 1,01; ED 13th at 0,89) and eFG% (#3 at 50,3%; ED 13th with 44,6%). As OPP Eff.FG% (so called field goal defense, but eFG% used here to depict team efficiency better in one number) is almost identical for both teams, this combination strengthens ED's underdog position in my books.

Other notable/especially interesting match (from my point of view) would be LGM-WMO.

So all this above information I looked up from the HGL Team Stats-posts (link in previous post) - and you could do the same if you want to see how your team fares against next opponent of yours. :)

Great stats, Wagner. Although I know my weaknesses...these stats confirm them clearly!

Maybe so, but I didn't know your weaknesses (or strengths) that clearly, but now I know... ;D Still, I have to say your rebounding numbers are pretty impressive!

Shhhh, Wagner...

...don't help them scout their games XD

That would be one way to go (to not write based on stats, or not to publish them in the first place even if they'd be available), but I wanted to showcase with couple of games that you can pretty easily get the idea of how one can try to find advantage against another team. While HGL is a good spirited league and we have respect towards each other, many of us are also competitive in spirit, so finding your opponents' weaknesses could be just what you need to get those all-important wins to secure a place in Playoffs, or win your closest opponent.. :)

One could say that anyone could do the work and find out/calculate these statistics themselves, but knowing how much effort it takes just take my word for it, that - nobody, I mean nobody - of us would calculate all those stats (or not even nearly all of those stats) themselves... :D

And I can safely say, that not everybody will inspect these stats with great care, so for managers like you I believe team stats will actually create/give more leverage to win in a given situation that you're in, as I believe you do check them out quite carefully (while all your opponents possibly do not).

For me it's also interesting in that sense, because I feel like I learn to know teams better and better all the time, slowly but still. Now I remember that you and for instance KKS are great in rebounding, that BCR takes very good care of the ball, and earlier I learnt that HB has great AST/TO ratio, and that KKS likes to play the slowest tempo in HGL, etc... For me this creates certain kind of "profile" and reflects the spirit of a given team. A profile that'll of course change eventually, but in many instances for example managers' defensive or offensive focus will remain in long term, and is reflected on what kind of players they like to develop/train... :)

EDIT: maybe, possibly, now that I have thought about it, you or LennuK. could have possibly/theoretically taken on team stats-project like this (because you both have used a lots of time for certain things in BB, and also in HGL). But still original comment remains valid in a sense that the work is done (and it's results revealed) in an attempt to benefit everybody (and to create HGL even more interesting), also those who don't have that much time or energy or skills to calculate all stats and by using them to analyze their own team and their opponents themselves.

Yes, we can certainly spend plenty of time and effort on examining the stats...if we choose to...and we can definitely begin to isolate important information which will allow us to set better tactics and/or know our HGL opponents better...however, we should also keep in mind that we are all (or most of us) still training and what we know about teams now will likely change in the future...maybe...

I suppose the quoted text above only was your response, even though it seemed in an above post of yours to blend to be part of my message.

Yes - well, if these HGL team stats can be kept available in a continuous basis, then in that case nobody needs to choose plenty of time to extract this information from match data, but they can just simply utilize it by checking out 3 different team stats-posts.

Yes, change is always inevitable. Just like in real life. But it doesn't prevent us from getting "a feel" of team in a real world, even if we acknowledge team will not probably be the same 10 seasons down the road. Same goes to HGL teams. That, on the other hand, doesn't lessen the value of statistics.

But that's another beauty of statistics - it gives you concrete means to compare something that's the reality today, and what has been the reality in the past (and then you can easily see the change/development). So in that sense it also can give us information on which direction which coach has decided to take their team (through training and/or trades) in a stretch of several seasons...

RS Round 10:
Friday, February 20th, 2026
BC Eos | 148 - 122 | Homegrown Kings
(137821219)

MrJ and I had a nice shooting match this afternoon, where with the 4+1 box defense they were able to completely neutralize E.Karu, who has showed some good performances so far this season. So, I needed the other players to step up and they did, with M.Vanda and Ü.Paabo putting on a two-man-show and combining for 86 points. I was also pleased to see that I was able to keep HGK, who have showed some marvelous rebounding in the last games, below my own rebounding values this game. Good game, MrJ, and good luck with the rest of the season!

Close defeat, but I've been behinf all through the game (up to 10+ pts).
I tried to manage his very good SF by placing my best Inside/Outside defender on him.
result : he made his best game of the season, his best rating !

My team lacks defense now, and the near future should see a bug change in the training -> Ouside Defense then Inside defense, for at least 1 season.
