[...] I do however have a spreadsheet of my own wit hall the stats of my own players for all seasons I have participated. [...]

This is an excellent thing to do - I should also probably try to find time to gather all these. I actually already started collecting my own player stats for part of one season (in one of the earlier HGL Seasons), but maybe the way I approached it was wrong (structurally) because I found tables way too slow/arduous to fill.

So having said that, maybe I need to ask tips from you and MrJ on how you guys have actually done it (how you have arranged tables/tabs within tables, which method/program are you using for the data collecting and calculating, etc.) to make updating it as smooth as possible?

Wagner wrote: As an added match I'd like to add VDT-HGK, that posed some interesting stats: HGK lost the match by 28, but were able to make a new HGL RS record with total of 32 offensive rebounds! They also won total rebounds 68-37 (31 rebound difference!), but on the other hand mishandled the ball big time (turned over the ball 26 times, of which half of them were VDT's steals) which harmed their chances of winning big time. Of course limited success rate (2 of 14) behind the three point arc while allowing VDT 11 of 23 shooting beyond the arc limited their chances as well, but that was to be expected as drive to the basket-strategy has a strong tendency to cause that (so it was a conscious decision from an experienced manager).

MrJ wrote: Yeah, this was a great learning game for me. Wrong offensive tactics which doesn't play to my strengths. I had plenty of the ball (shot more than VDT, collected more second shots than VDT) and still got hammered. The scoreline doesn't reflect VDT's 1st half demolition of my team. I gained some valuable insights from this match. Yes, I'm disappointed by the end score, but it was n important loss for me.

Well done, VDT! Your salaries are only about $80k more than mine (if my memory serves me correctly), but you played much better than that suggests. Clearly you have trained your players well.

This is where things sometimes get interesting - I have about 90K higher salaries than VDT, and what did they do just a while a go? Won me by 10. (Yes, excellent tactical choices were part of that, but still... Anyway, that's what I wish I'd see even more in BB, that salary underdogs have a good shot at win).

So yes, absolutely a game you could've had a better shot at win, but after meeting VDT earlier, I knew it's going to be a tough night for you (as I on the other hand won you on our previous meeting by 21).

But it's good that you had that kind of attitude towards the loss - you always learn/gain something, if you want to do the work and analyze things a little bit.

What I also hope will help in analyzing your team strengths and weaknesses, are the HGL Team Statistics that just 'got out of the oven' (updated after S4 RS Round 9), as mentioned in one of my previous posts.

As for single player success in that VDT match, I guess you'd be better in writing about that. But if we take your X.Tsattalios as an example - who you've mentioned often, and who is the highest rating player in your league, Australia III.2 - he had an off night. Normally match rating in III.2 is 15.0 (86th in whole Australia), now was 12.5.
Typically his AST/TO rating is 4,86 (3rd in league, 58th nationwide), but now in this match 0,29.
Typically he will dish out 10,0 assists/48 minutes of play in your league games, but now he had 2 assists in 48 minutes.

Of course it's not totally "fair" comparison, as you don't face such challenge in your current "regular BB league", but it's still sometimes interesting to compare some typical league stats to a single HGL match success (or to a HGL Regular Season success, should we have some of those player stats available in the future).

Thank you for your announcement SventraCanestri - I had already marked your team with ++ status (continuous participation-status) based on your last summers' continuous commitment-announcement, but it's always positive thing to reconfirm it on Official Thread!

That's nice to hear you're finding HGL adds positive things to your HG journey - same goes with me. Besides, one could say that you did step in at a perfect time (at least from possible success-standpoint) as you already have very competitive team for the league and therefore you don't need to wait for several seasons in order for your team to be able to compete in high level in HGL.
How do you see it - is medal your goal at the end of Season 4?
