You can even place bids with it, and it will effect the players you get recommended, but it won't show in your total cash on hand until after the "match finishes"

Oh, that I didn't know. I don't like that tbh. When I played this game (Season 3 - Season 20s something) we had a thing that we can see whether we won or lost a Cup game whether we got the $50k+ or didn't before the game started. The devs decide to hide that information, which was a good change. I think they should do something about this as well.

Spoiler alert: the cup match income is hidden the same way - it's visible immediately after the game finishes simulating (usually around 10 or so minutes before "tipoff") but then gets "hidden" by a batch process shortly after. You usually have a couple minute window to self-spoil if you really really want to, or occasionally transfer list recommendations during the game might spoil for you.
