RS Round 15:
Friday, March 9th, 2026
BC Eos | 88 - 81 | Hårdboll
(137821790)

In this game we were able to wrestle down one of the strongest teams of the past seasons and probably celebrate our best win in HGL until now. While Hårdboll's and my salaries are not too far apart, they definitely had the advantage considering game shapes. Spela's side game into the game with a fast inside offence, which I was able to counter with the predictions and respective counter-tactics. As any inside tactics have been one of my weaknesses over the past seasons, it's great to see that the current training is paying off and I am able to keep good inside teams at bay too. The game itself was a real thriller, where no team was able to get any comfortable lead and both sides showed some terrible shooting (or good defense?) with just below 36% field goals made. The two advantages I had in the game were offensive boards, which I won 16-7 as well as the fact that 2 of HB's starters fouled-out going into the decisive phase of the final quarter. Altogether, we showed a good team performance, with all starters scoring in double digits. Good game, Spela and lycka till for the final games!

Very important match for both, and I'm glad to see score being so close/exciting!

With this score, given that Hårdboll has very difficult rest of the RS schedule (against LMS and KKS), it's possible that one of the biggest surprises (in terms of salary comparison vs. RS success) would take place in HGL Regular Season, if Hårdboll is left out of Playoffs.

As you can see from this table, here: (329501.52), they are 5th in Top8-salaries so in that sense it's been hard season for them so far, being currently positioned 14th. But also lycka till from my behalf, Spela, for the rest of the Season!

RS R 15: Monday, Mar 9th, 2026 BCR 90-86 ED (138562267)
RS R 16: Friday, Mar 13th, 2026 FRE 60-96 ED (138571175)

2 logical results this week.
1st is a small loss, but quite logical, as the result should have been a 10+ pts gap. Thanks to my good stl/to stats. But, that was the only better performance than my opponent.

Today : a +36 victory over a less strong team than mine. Good Off AND Def tactic, coupled with a very higher salary total, the victory was decided before the game started. But, I still made a very bad 3pt% (0/9) ! 34 pts from the bench is also a very good stat.

HGL league table updated after 16 Rounds of play.

Tomorrow is time for last Round of RS, and there's a lot at stake like you all can see by viewing a league table.

@all:
Remember: ORSR will be created after a Round 17, and based on that First Round Playoff schedule is published in Playoff post for Season 4.

So if there's any chance you would be playing on First Round (teams ranked 5-12), please be prepared to start sending match challenge immediately (after ORSR-table release - or if it's 100% clear what your opponent will be before that publication, you can already send challenges before it but don't hesitate to wait for the publication if you're unsure at all!).

As a reminder for Playoffs for all:

- Match time remains the same as during Regular Season (the same time that you now see in your BB schedule when you look at it), so 13.30 EET (a.k.a. 01.30 PM EET, Eastern European Time).

- Playoff matches will always be played on a home court of a better ranked (ORSR) team!

- Technically home team is responsible for sending PU match challenge, but either team can send challenge (I don't mind) as long as it's details (court balance, day, time) are 100% correct.

Playoff-post for Season 4 is now updated (here: (329502.7)), and Official Regular Season Rankings (ORSR) and First Round Playoff-schedule created.

Please let me know ASAP if you notice any faults in any of that information.

I noticed changing into Daylight Savings Time (DST) during Playoffs will likely cause some confusion as it'll take place later on, but we'll have to be especially accurate with match times on that week when it happens (and we have some time to discuss how it'll affect - this can sometimes become a bit complicated).

I also noticed going back and forth in some posts, what becomes to Official HGL match time during Season 4 Playoffs.

While it may seem a bit contradictory from some point of view, I think it's fine to keep the same match time during Playoffs as well. So official match time for Season 4 Playoffs is your local equivalent of 13.30 EET, a.k.a. 01.30PM EET.

This is the same time that you should see your HGL matches have been taking place, when you look at your HGL schedule. (Yes, I just noticed there's some contradiction with the HGL rules, but let's go with this time 13.30 EET for now).

Anyway, match organizing process for First Round of Playoffs has started, so home teams, please proceed sending challenges if you don't find any mistakes in league table/ORSR-table.

All the care has been taken to ensure it's correct, but it doesn't harm everyone to scan it for totally obvious mistakes.

Please remember to send your match links (for Playoff-matches) to your teams' own box score post. You may also in addition send it to Scores-Thread, if you want.

Rank #5 VIV vs. #12 VDT (138673698)

Rank #7 BCR vs. #10 WMO (138673971)
Rank #8 EOS vs. #9 WAG (138674192)

Lots of drama during the Season 4 Regular Season, and last Round wasn't without it either.

I (WAG) lost to EOS by 9, which caused me to lose 2 positions on ORSR-rankings, and face EOS on an away court instead of meeting WMO at home (who I beat on neutral court on RS). 1 point loss to VIV during RS is something I won't forget easily, even though my record in games decided by 6 points or less was positive at 3W-1L.

Then MAD was able to put up a proper fight against a strong VIV team, losing only by 4. Even a win wouldn't have taken them upwards on league table though, as they lost to WMO earlier on RS.
VIV had a strong season, finishing fifth at 13W-5L and being especially good in close games; they had 3W-1L record on games that were decided by 4 points or less.
MAD as well had many even games, but had a 2W-4L losing record on close games, that were decided by 6 points or less.

LGM's season became to a disappointing ending - disappointing due to things being so close. At the end they fell two wins shy of a spot in Playoffs, finishing at 6W-11L (or one win shy, should've one win come against their closest rivals MAD or VDT, right?).
Why was it especially disappointing (from outside perspective)? They fought really well against excellent LMS's team, losing only by 6 in their last RS match, and actually leading the match by 6 before 4th quarter.
Even a win wouldn't help them pass MAD and VDT though, as during RS they lost to them both, but by only 3 and 2 points, respectively.
Talking about a small difference!

FRE finished 14th in league table with their last Round close win against TRO, putting them at 3W-14L, as at the same time HGK's destiny (we can all share that feeling, apart from few teams that could actually challenge VPO properly!) was to be thrown under the train called VPO on the last Round, and therefore was left at 2W-15L after RS (but would've been 15th even if they'd share the same W-L record with FRE, due to losing in RS to them). That would've easily been the biggest shocker of the whole HGL history, as nobody has ever (yes - ever) been able to beat VPO.

Interestingly, for FRE this 8p win was the closest game of the year, all other matches ending in a double digit differences, be it a win or a loss.
From other teams that didn't reach Playoffs on Season 4, TRO had 2 single digit score difference-matches during the whole RS (be it a win or a loss for them), HB two, LGM six, HGK only one, and ALA - who was still left for seeking their first HGL win after Season 4 RS - had none (but smallest losses of the Season 4 RS were 13, 13, 14 and 17 points).

Scoring difference on 4 last ranked teams were on average -27.1 points/match, while top 4 posted total average of +20,6 points/match. So there's a bit of a difference between top and lowest 4, but on the other hand that's just natural - that's often how it's IRL as well, and as we don't have similar monetary restrictions as IRL, it's probably quicker to close the gap in BB than IRL basketball.

HB experienced maybe the most grim destiny in HGL RS history, if we only take a look at teams' Top8-salary. They do have a very good and expensive team, but for some reason the potential wasn't transferred to the court. Therefore, a team fifth in Top8-salaries, at $444K was shockingly left out of Playoffs, finishing 14th at 5W-12L. It wasn't a story of close losses either, as out of those 12 losses only 2 were by less than 12 points. I wish Spela a good Season 5 though, I believe you'll bounce back!

Good luck for all for the First Round of Playoffs, and let's get organizing games ASAP!
