I would probably support moving to a one-thread model, just to have everything in one place. If it would make your job any easier – even better! As for finding my team's score sheet, it is not so easy now, and I don't think it could get more difficult

Thanks all for the great work managing HGL!

One thread has advantages, true. Two threads or more should be more ordered, but, for example, I have posted probably in both threads the same at some moment ?

Whatever the choice, I'm behind it.

Which brings me to one questions, which comes to the surface one Season after another; should HGL stay on the same thread to possibly save some trouble (during this off-season/transitioning process)?
It would also have some clear negative side effects though.

This was not my point actually.

The point was staying in the same forum thread from one season to another - not to stop publishing the second HGL (Scores) thread. So the question was, what do you guys think of staying in the same threads for xx amount of Seasons (as long as close to 1000 messages limit is reached)? Like I've mentioned, there are downsides to that too.

If I would stop publishing Scores Thread altogether, then you would have even harder time finding your box score post, should everything be in one forum thread.

I'm not quite sure how is it possible that "it couldn't get any more difficult" to enter your box score post?
You click to either one of HGL Threads, scroll down to box score post, and click the link after your team name at "Team abbreviations and links to team's own box score post for Season 5:".
I'm just wondering how much easier could that get... Organizing this through forums, I don't think it could become any easier.
Like you can all see, there are plenty of other essential information in first 15-20 posts on either HGL Threads, and these won't be moved just for convenience of possibly avoiding one click per (some) manager(s), in order to access your box score post... even if everything would be moved (to "prioritize" box score posts, they still wouldn't fit into first page, as there are 18 of us).

Although, I don't know if you have all managed to check the Homegrown Central post that I created, but it has links to all of our HGL seasons, stats, records and much, much more. It is already sticky-ed to make sure it is permanent. Here is the link: (332147.1)

With that said, we could still sticky a HGL Official Thread and the HGL Scores thread and let them run until 1000 posts require new ones to be made.

I had a glance, but need to check everything out 100% thoroughly.

Stickying them would be possible, yes, but again the only dilemma is whether or not cons outweight the pros, in terms of staying on same threads until they fill.. that's the point I'm trying to get into.

@Wagner...

First and foremost, I will reiterate what I have said often: YOU ARE DOING AN INCREDIBLE JOB AS COMMISSIONER!

But...

...I really think we need to work out the best format for the HGL in terms of what information is where. Like others, I have been here since Season 1...and still find it hard to know which thread to go to at times depending on what information I am seeking. We have ladders, stats, scores, commissioner requests, random bbmails and all sorts of items across both threads in a confusing and somewhat chaotic scene imo. Let me be clear, this is absolutely no way your fault, Wagner, it is just how things have evolved in the HGL. There is a lot of information. I didn't even know where to post this message...in the Scores or Official thread...or both!?

With that said, consider the confusion of which thread is to be used and when for new and existing participants. A new team, having not understood how everything works, could possibly become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of threads and messages and requests and expectations and rules and messages etc. So, how do we simplify this?

Somehow, we need to simplify all this information into a more concise and succinct system so that anybody arriving in the HGL knows where to go and why, what to do and when.
[...]

Not enough time to reply to your message properly now, but this kind of structure has already been implemented on Season 2, like you can see from this post and it's link: (331392.7). This is just another layer of work, and as goes with ALL the other links (tons of them!) in all HGL posts, links do not update themselves. I haven't had perhaps a single positive feedback about this post though (at least outside of top2-3 most conversationally active managers), so I have no idea if anyone outside of active managers-envelope feels that beneficial (actives don't mainly even need them as threads will become familiar to them if they browse 15-20 first messages on each thread).
.
Also, one thing is, that HGL always evolves to some extent, so posts won't be in exact same locations on each consequent season.
But mostly they stay on same locations, like you've seen.

Main post is mainly for messages, and scores thread, like name implies, for box score posts and stats. It is already mentioned on the Scores-thread, that discussion is mainly meant to take place on main thread. The thing is though, that people still do what they do - perhaps they don't read or remember that, or then want to do things their way regardless of instructions. Who knows?

Main thread is always main thread, as name implies (there is no "scores" addition in name) and if somewhere, most important posts are posted at least there.

Discussion just "happens" to also take place there, and I have not wanted to restrict that too much, because do we already have too busy conversational scene here in HGL, especially outside couple of active managers? Not really, no...

You are right about people getting lazy - I should probably let people take more responsibility on reading those forum posts in order to make things more "sustainable" in a long run, in terms of amount of work.
But I've just noticed, that often it leads to things not getting done. Again, that can be due to multiple reasons.

But like you mentioned, this post/preseason is the worst time of the season for long conversations.
And my main point indeed was to instead introduce pros/cons-discussion about staying on same threads Season after season until they fill.
But it's likely too short of a notice to have such conversation anyway, as that likely doesn't take place outside of top3-5 most active managers-envelope anyway on this short notice.. Meaning that at least one more transitioning process is needed (until setting up for two threads for the duration of 2-4 Seasons depending how quickly they fill up - again, this has not been decided to be the method).

Schedules and my box score post have now been published on HGL Scores Season 6 Official Thread.

Please create an own box score post for your team, by responding to this post: (332268.22).

Like normally, you edit it as needed, and add match links to it when matches have been created by you and your opponents.
Again, if you have # in front of your team name in schedule posts (17 Rounds of matches), it's your responsibility to send the correct Pickup match challenge.

As usual, some essential instructional posts and posts including team links and official match times can be found already (links below), even though Season 6 Threads are still under construction:

What everyone who participates to Season 6 of HGL needs to do now-post: (332268.19).

Announcement 29.7.2026: We're ready to organize all Regular Season matches for HGL Season 6-post: (332268.2).

Links to participating teams-pages for easy match challenging, and official HGL match times for each team: (332268.18).

I have now sent a match offer/request to all of you, and this is the correct match time for HGL Season 6.
Send and accept Pickup matches only at this same time you see our match (vs. Wagner College) match taking place.

Everybody playing on HGL Season 6, please proceed to match organizing process immediately, as we have only 12 days until Season 6 starts.
