I fell like they are trying to kill this game ;) First when I've heard about new management I was excited and I created an account (I played this game maybe 10-13 years ago) but since that message nothing has changed... Because of that I dropped again this game :( and once a month maybe two I'm checking if there is some update ;) Keep it like that and the end will be soon...

I think it's safe to say at this point that we are all playing a dead game.
I refuse to think that a company would be so inept in software development to work 2 years on some updates without using an existing user base for feedback. so that leads to the conclusion that they are not working at it, just keeping it afloat.

My theory is that the new owners bought it for the user base, with the idea that they might polish a little bit the UI and make some easy money.. however, they probably discovered what a headache is to work with the old code and the return of investment being too small (this type of game probably doesn't sell as well today), so they took the decission to cut their loses.

In a way, fair enough, I get it. And (through this annoying silence) they are honest about it. they haven't announced anything new as they know they won't do anything new.

So, I've personally lost all hope that we will see any meaningful updates to the game moving forward..I guess we should at least be grateful that they don't close the servers completely.

It will still probably be fun for a bit longer as there still is a decent amount of users around.

As long as the game at least breaks even, it makes sense to keep the servers running with minimal maintenance. But if the active user base drops to the point where operating costs consistently exceed revenue, shutting the servers down would be around the corner

May be in the future I will be an offer for this game.
As a dev, and as a atrocious basketball's player, I cannot see this game go to die.

I love BB

Count me in! DS and AI Engineer here.

Not an expert in game ops, but a possible long-term alternative could be a community buyout and ownership if the game ever stops being commercially viable. That wouldn’t necessarily mean fully open-sourcing the game mechanics, but the infrastructure and platform could be community-maintained while the core game logic remains controlled or treated as a black box by a small trusted admin group.

Just about keeping the game alive in a sustainable way for the community that still cares about it!
