Do you have a merchandise store and/or an arena sponsorship? Those are also included in the merchandise amounts.

Merchandise is not a single number, but a composite of 5 different numbers, as noted in the post that little guest linked.

Of the 5 different numbers, only 2 are directly influenced by your team's ranking and division level (Team Sales and Homegrown & Local bonus). Player Jersey Sales are mostly influenced by having your highest salary players rank well in major stats (my belief is that the 5x5 categories plus Rating are what matters here, on a per game basis NOT a per 36 basis). Players that don't play 50%+1 of your league games don't qualify for rankings and thus don't qualify for Jersey Sales merchandise. (Except that NT and U21 players get a bonus to their Jersey Sales on the week after they appear in a national team game that is not dependent on qualifying for rankings)

The other two are fixed income based on having been playing the game long enough to sink the money into the up front cost -- Merchandise Store and Arena Income. If you max those two out, you'll have approximately $46k per week in fixed merchandise regardless of team or player performance (though also $15k per week in Infrastructure expense to support the Merchandise store).

As was noted in that thread, the Jersey Sales component is low because your top salary player doesn't qualify for league rankings and thus is not earning the majority of his rankings-related sales. The Jersey Sales component is not effected by the Merchandise Store - that's a completely separate line item within your overall merchandise breakdown.

My understanding (not backed by an official source) is that the PR manager only directly impacts Team Sales (and thus indirectly Homegrown & Local). If that's correct, then I wouldn't expect changing your PR manager to have an impact on Jersey Sales.

Everything you said may be formally correct in terms of how the game mechanics work, but let's be honest: from any real-world perspective, this is completely absurd and illogical.

Think about it for a second. What exactly is a basketball team's merchandise store supposed to primarily sell, if not jerseys? Jerseys ARE the core of any team's merchandise business. Walk into any NBA team store and the overwhelming majority of the floor space is jerseys and jersey-adjacent apparel. The idea that "Jersey Sales" and the "Merchandise Store" are two completely separate, unrelated line items makes zero sense outside of a spreadsheet.

Same goes for the ranking logic: my highest-paid, presumably most popular player sells fewer jerseys because he doesn't qualify for some league ranking? Fans don't check eligibility criteria before buying a jersey — they buy the jersey of the star they come to see. Popularity drives sales, not technical qualification for a stats leaderboard.

I get that it's a game and the mechanics are what they are, so thanks for clarifying how it actually works. But whoever designed this system clearly never thought about how merchandising works in the real world.

Not sure if this helps ya but I started playing BB again a few weeks ago.

My team of full American players that's in the playoffs and has a few league leaders in stats, averages 2k less per week than league average.

My utopia team on the other hand, full of utopia flag players, losing record 6th seed, barely any league leaders in any statistical categories, that team averages 66% less per week in merch, than league average, versus my american team that is a smidge below league avg.

Having a bunch of foreigners on your team like yours is used to hurt merch alot in the past. Did that change because I doubt it.

9 of your 12 players are foreign.
They need to get deported =)
