Hello everyone. As expected, we lost on Monday against Hong Kong. (81891) I tried to take a gamble on the GDP, but unfortunately it didn’t work out!

Even with a good GDP, I’m not sure we would’ve won anyway, given the huge gap between us and HK.
Next Monday we’ll have a bye week, and we’ll play a friendly match against Thailand. After that, we’ll switch over to the 2nd round, and we’ll see what we can hope for depending on the schedule.
Go Malaysia!

After a comfortable friendly win against Thailand (82401), we started the 2nd round with a clear loss against China (82512). China is ranked 8th in the world, and there’s a huge gap between them and us, that comes as no surprise to anyone.

The rest of the second round looks interesting. We’ll try to win as many games as we can. Despite the progress made, the team is still fairly average overall.

We’ll be facing, in order, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Taiwan, and Indonesia. These will be interesting games to prepare for, and I hope we’ll be able to defend our chances with pride!

Go Malaysia!

Hi everyone !

It’s been a while since I last gave some news, with this busy end-of-year period. Last week, we faced Kazakhstan and unfortunately lost. (82514)
We rely on a few key players, and sadly they weren’t in great shape overall. We still tried to go for the win by playing Normal, but our opponent decided to put in more effort. No regrets, their offensive tactics were unpredictable, and we did what we could.

Today, we played Singapore, and this time we were the ones who went all-in by playing Crunch Time. It was unfortunately our only real chance to grab a win in this second round, and it went through by a short margin ! (82517)

The team is young (only 6 players aged 21 out of the 14 players used this season). You can’t plant a seed and expect fruits the very next day !

We still have two games left to finish the season, against two strong teams, Taiwan and Indonesia, whose rosters are far superior to ours. Still, I’m satisfied with this first season and very optimistic about the next ones !
I wish you all a great end of the year, see you in 2026 !

Go Malaysia !

Hi everyone !

I didn’t take the time earlier to wish you all the best for the new year, I hope it brings you lots of great things in real life, as well as plenty of success on BuzzerBeater, and for our national teams too !

After an expected loss against Taiwan (82520), we faced Indonesia in the last official game of the season. On paper, we were supposed to lose this one by quite a margin, so I took some tactical risks that unfortunately didn’t pay off. The surprise at the start of the game was that Indonesia didn’t play Crunch Time (which is rather hard to understand).

So we went from a game we were expected to lose to one we actually could have won, but in the end we lost it in overtime, after a crazy comeback in the final minute of the 4th quarter. (82522)

If I had been able to anticipate that Indonesia would play Normal (which was absolutely impossible to predict), I obviously would have made different tactical choices.

We finish this second round with only one win, but I’m satisfied with this season and this new, young group that is progressing well overall. This week, I’ll be doing a major update of my player database to take a close look at the progress made by our young players.
I can already tell you that next season’s roster will probably once again include many players who are only 20 years old. But that also means the team we’ll have in Season 72 should be competitive and allow us to aim a bit higher, at least, that’s what I’m hoping for.

Thanks to BasketWorld for the kind words of support, much appreciated, and thanks as well to everyone who follows from the shadows and trains young players.

Go Malaysia!
