I spoke privately with BB-Marco Yesterday.

I was a big believer in Spicy Sparks when they arrived, they communicated and basically tried their best IMO. My opinion didn't change after leaving the team too.

Even though they communicated basically nothing at 2025, i was still confident.
At this point, H2 2026, I really started to think Spicy Sparks straight up just Abandoned BB. Not communicating anything nor sharing any progress is a very stupid decision when you literally purchase a community based game.

It seems like Spicy Sparks has decided an All or Nothing approach; He explained they dont want to communicate/share progress because they view these things as discussions that will drain their limited time, with BB users who can never be satisfied. They'd rather spend that time working and progressing.

While I agree there's a loud minority that isn't worth the time, this approach also hurt the relationship with "Normal" BB users who just wanna know everything's okay, that progress is being made and literally to know the Management is still here lol. Patience isn't a problem for most of us. We literally play the slowest game on earth.

His approach is to start communicating and getting feedback and getting Community managers when they will get closer to the finished product of the new website and etc etc.

I asked him to figure out whatever way, whatever unit of measurement of progress, whatever way to communicate even if its just announcements without discussions. Communication is a spectrum and they must figure out a way to do it.

He offered to talk to the dev team (apparently, there are 4 of those working on BB among other apps) and perhaps creating a progress page where they can make updates over there.
BB-Marco Seem to be very confident that they will Deliver a very good product once its finished.

So, I guess we will see...

What a great strategy for a software house to decide to eliminate all communication with users! In 23 years of development, I'd never thought of it!
I probably always had the wrong approach.

Honestly, reaching customers has never been easier — or more uncanny. Throw in a few buzzwords, a vague value proposition, and a desired tone, and AI hands you a polished press release within seconds. The barrier to communication is basically zero now.

Which is both exciting and a little terrifying.

Exciting because smaller teams can punch way above their weight. Terrifying because everyone else can too — meaning the volume of content just keeps climbing while actual signal stays flat.

The real differentiator isn't who can generate the slickest press release anymore. It's who still has something worth saying.

As you may know, advertising other games is against the rules.

I don't think BuzzerBeater's main problem is that it feels old.

In fact, being a slow-paced, long-term manager game is one of its greatest strengths. Many of us are still here because BB does not require daily grinding, constant attention, or pay-to-win mechanics. It allows managers to build something over months and years, and that is increasingly rare in modern gaming.

Many former managers played for years and left not because they disliked the game, but because life happened: work, studies, family, or other commitments. They simply never had a reason to return.

Because of that, I believe one of the biggest opportunities for BB is bringing former managers back while also helping new players understand what makes the game special.

Some ideas:

Welcome-back campaigns aimed at former managers.
Community stories from returning users.
More activity on social media and community platforms.
Better onboarding for new users.

Not by simplifying the game itself, but by helping new managers understand why patience, planning, and long-term thinking are rewarded.

I would be very careful about changing the core mechanics. Slow progression, long-term planning, and meaningful consequences of decisions are part of BB's identity and should be preserved.

My suggestion is simple: preserve the vintage manager experience, but improve the way people discover, return to, and learn the game.

The goal should not be to turn BB into a modern mobile game.

The goal should be to help modern players discover that this unique type of game still exists.
