This just translates the problem to the second round. Now, you have 25% teams qualifying to the second round, and then 33% teams going to the semis. In your system, you would have 50%/17%, the former being way too less and the first a bit much (given a large number of European teams).

I believe each round should have a "transmission" more or equal to one quarter and less or equal to one half. 16 seems like much nicer number (and not such a drastic change), but with initial group of 8 (which I guess is the bare minimum, so each team gets to play at least 50% competitive games in the season), there might be some problems.

You could have groups of 8, first two teams plus four with the best score advance (7 games), then 3 games in four groups of four, first two advance, then quarter final (11th game), semi final (12th game) and final (13th game). Now it seems a bit random to squeeze the semis on Friday.

An interesting alternative would be division I/division II/division III EC, so lets say 12, 16 or 24 teams in each division would play separate championships, with elimination/promotion each EC year. As in hockey or now nations league in soccer. For a 16 team division, an example would be something like 2 groups of 8 (first 6 advance, last two go to the relegation round), then similar as is now. And the last two (pairs of) teams would play a round of 4, with the last two teams being relegated.

Advantage of such system would be, that every single European team would have something to fight for. Either medals, or promotion/avoiding relegation. I know it is a major change, but is maybe worth putting on the table.

This illustrates one of the major problems with BB, we don't have a public vote on potential changes. A vocal minority can oppose any change while 70% might be pro said change but simply might not stumble upon the discussion and, therefore, do not voice their opinion.

I do think that there is a better format as the current one has outlived its life cycle by quite a few years and makes for a less competitive tournament overall.

They could also (but I dont't really like) split Europe in half, i.e. North Europe vs South Europe or East vs West or even Tall Guys vs. Short Boys championship and a final game for the trophy

In fact, that's the way European Tournaments works on u19, u17 and u15 NT. There are 3 divisions and top there also exist promotions/delegations on those.

I'd be very glad to apply this format in BB too.

alot of ideas thrown around. all i can say is that we too support the ideea of expansion. not only because we were on the cusp for qualifying twice in last two outings but the competitive level is too high to revert with nothing to show. not just for us but for the majority of European teams who show their true rank in consolation and WC.

at the risk of losing some $$$ please consider having more games even at the cost of demonetizing the merchandise.

the game developers have show that you can have more games, as evidenced by PL and pick up. so please do not over-complicate it.


want to underline that my suggestion dopes not stem from my desire to have some participation diploma like the kids nowadays, but any extra involvement for NT due to more to play for will encourage excitment in the fanbase.

i have noob users who can t properly send out game orders but frequently follow nt. so please consider that as well.

and last but not least, maybe consider resetting all enthusiasm for 1 in NT scrimmages and adopt a footbal/soccer type system as they use in europe in UEFA Nations League.

Basic idea looks fine, but the system is also very important. There are 14 weeks in every season, what is your idea? Now the system is:
Week 1 - scrimmage
Weeks 2 to 8 - group stage
Weeks 9 to 13 - second group stage
Week 14 - semifinal (friday) and final (monday)
How would you change it to be able to compete 24 teams in second phase?

I was thinking about this and I want to remind that on PlayOff Finals, there is a tiebreaker game on Sunday, so maybe if there is a need to play more NT games, BB could use Sundays aswell.

Just an idea...
