Mikramus is from Gibraltar, I am from Asturias... 😉 And we are all on the red side and tied!

Tournament is looking good this year, a lot of the top seeds are through to the last 8 and it should be a fun series of games to decide the champ.

How's everyone's season going? i'm quite pleased, operating below the floor and staying in touch of he playoffs. I will have a call to make after my tournament run finishes about whether to stand pat, bring in some more experience for a playoff push or consolidate the bench and keep training my fringe starters with a view to promoting one of them next season.

I need another star or two to compete for silverware but the extra year on aging really changes my outlook quite a lot in terms of being more patient in my approach. Pretty much given up on the Engish-only recruitment policy as the talent pool on the market is so shallow and some of you guys have deep pockets when a home grown star does hit the market.

EDIT: OH FFS, Zalgiris in the last 8 again!!!

Interesting draw.
The Tier 2 teams get each other and Wasps get Bournemouth, probably the next best either could wish for, given the Drunkers record against the tallfellas.

Lemons vs Doncaster is a pick 'em and obvs I'm a large underdog against the champs but it'll be intersting at least to me how I do relative to this time last season.

Bring on Thursday!

I might post more later but for now I just want to say something regarding this:

I need another star or two to compete for silverware but the extra year on aging really changes my outlook quite a lot in terms of being more patient in my approach.

While aging has been put back to 34, I don't think the entire aging process has been put back a year. By that I mean this season's 34yo ages just like last season's 34yo, and so on. I think the only change is that 33yos don't age at all. Not what I was expecting but not contrary to what was in the news. So while a change in approach is necessary, it won't be a big one. Though to be fair I'm judging based on a sample size of two.

Yeah, but my star is 30, so that age 33 year makes a difference.
My 36 year old has barely lost a skill, btw.
If he follows the same pattern as his age 35 year (which he seems to be doing) then he’ll plop a bunch just before the playoffs!!’
I take the point about small sample sizes tho and I’ve also had a career extension trainer for about 30 seasons so I’m not sure what normal skill regression looks like

Terrible officiating! I was robbed!!
What kind of nutjob referee calls a push off with 4 seconds to go!!!

Good game Fibres, GL in the rest of the playoffs

Great game mate, you gave me a real scare and it was getting pretty tense in the final few minutes! Credit to you.

I don't begrudge your tactics at all as I've done it in the past when I'm underdog, but somethings got to be done about the Patient offence, it just makes no sense at all..

I agree, it's a game tool rather than 'part of the game' and it's not something I've done very often; but it is always an option.

Very impressed with Needham and Buljaska in the 4th, a nice run of clutch 3s to get a lead at an important time. Fun watching my lot almost claw it back again but not to be. Back to scouting for a third star for me, it's not going to be easy to catch up with you and Vecx.

I had a feeling you'd go with Patient because Rudelle is clearly your best scorer and it's extremely hard to keep him quiet.

Needham's talent is clear for everyone to see but Bujalska has surprised me on a few times this season, he's been excellent for both myself and the National team.
