It's a shame we missed the GDP against Taiwan whilst they were vulnerable, but you've successfully run the gauntlet to get back into contention. Made both GM-Perpete and Woody miss a GDP themselves to get into 2nd without spending excess enthusiasm, so whatever happens against China, I'd say you've gotten the most out of this team.

Thanks Jay, as you’d know there’s a brains trust that chips in with advice, so I can’t take full credit. Missing that GDP against Taiwan certainly wasn’t ideal, but we’re at least alive in the contest late in the Cup, which is a nice feeling. China is obviously the big beast in the game, but we’ll give it a crack and see how we go. Just fingers crossed we have 10-12 guys in proficient that week!

Cheers Woody and great job on putting up a good fight until the end. With two or three minutes to go in each of our games tonight you were right in the hunt to snag that spot.

Semi finals, here we come!
Managers, you know what to do. Let's keep our minutes as close to 60 as we can this week if we can (I know, I know, play offs make it tricky) but here's hoping it all works out in our favour. We're going to need it against China.

Walter certainly earned the right to an upset by calling LI, but a couple of late turnovers went against them and that put Lebanon in late game foul mode when Australia were looking like the team that would foul before then.

Had we been the ones fouling, the fate of the group would've come down to how close we could keep the score, as we had the potential to advance on a loss as long as the Philippines vs Korea game stayed close (which it did). A real shame that we couldn't upset Taiwan too, as the group winner now gets Hong Kong coming off the back of a CT of their own to make the semi-finals.

For those playing along at home, even if you don’t have a player in the game, we Aussies love an under dog story and we love our sport, so feel free to tune into the game from 10pm Friday night. Grab a beer, wine, choccy milk, whatever your drop is and enjoy each Ching our boys take it up to what has been the best team in the world over the past 10 or so seasons. Hopefully we make an entertaining game of it for everyone.

If we win this we should make Steve Bradbury our mascot. You’ve just got to be in the contest long enough and you never know. Good luck! Go Aussies!

Our live run in the Season 55 Asian Cup came to an end at the hands of a very strong Chinese outfit tonight.
We went in as massive underdogs and threw a bit of a long shot in terms of a GDP but picked it wrong, which led to the margin blowing out a little more than it might have, but collectively the brains trust felt it was our best shot of pulling off the upset. In the end we went down by 30 in the semi final, but making a semi final is a good start and progress on the last time we were here.

While we have a scrimmage against the other semi final loser in Hong Kong on Monday our MVP count came to a close with the semi final and there was a clear, runaway winner this season.
Derek Houghton, managed and trained by Kinky Koala's manager Balev, had an absolutely dominant season this year, and with a scrimmage to go could go past 300 points for the season.
Given he will probably also finish the season with around 40 assists it was a truly amazing run for the breakout guard who took over the mantel of the number one all-round guard from veteran Du Hongjing.

1 vote each - Omu, Bill,

Dawes is almost certain to retire after tonight's game, with the skill drops starting to come quickly towards the end of the season, but he has been an absolute warrior for the Aussie side, playing the second most amount of games ever behind his former paint partner Dwayne McFlynn.
The scouting process for the new season will start soon, so feel free to direct message me with skill updates of your player if you think either he might be getting close to the mark or might have potential to make it in the future, or even if you want to talk about a training plan to maybe get him there one day - particularly if you have a big guy, I want to make sure I haven't missed one hiding in the woodwork somewhere.

Sorry I couldn't get us to an Asian final this season, but thanks for your support, particularly all of the managers who kept the side in cherry ripe shape most weeks. It really makes a difference.

Deano
