Will the TV Contract and salary floor for season 73 reflect the updated salaries? Not sure about the usual timing but I think the salary floor already changed.

Hello, Marin.
I noticed that salary/potential changes didn't cover Outside defense. To many people, this is a skill that is not weighted properly in formulas. I'll give examples from the old formula:
If player has higher OD than JS, he's leaning to pg position. In that position his cost for OD is 67% higher than JS
If player has higher JS than OD, hes leaning to sf position. In that position JS cost is 223% percent higher than OD
This creates imbalance and is the primary reason why games in top level are so defensive. You can fit more OD in your perimeter player's cap than JS.
Second thing with OD is PF formula. It gives more than four times more weight to JS than to OD. Having a guardlike OD on your bigs is what makes 3-2 zone so strong and it really makes little sense why it is so cheap on them. Also if JS was lower cost, it would help traditional offensive bigs trying to reach high IS. Right now JS for PF costs almost twice as much as it does for PG
What is your opinion on increasing OD costs and reducing JS costs and are you considering on updating formulas in future? Obviously the engine could be tweaked later. The idea is to give proper weight to strongest skill in game and to give people an equal chance on training offensive players. The way it is now, game will continue to be very defensive at top level

Also in regards to reducing elastics, you mentioned some speed bumps, so that there is no loss of training. I don't think it makes sense to buff it for older players that already used elastic effect. Just gives them advantage for no reason. So what do you think about these speed bumps being restricted to younger players?

1. What data will you look at to determine this salary change is a success or not (or needs more tweaking)?

2. Edit: was it intentional to have the increase in salary at the top and a decrease for most salary brackets and if so, what is the idea behind it? Also would it be possible to break down the salary increase of the top salary bracket by TSP, to check if the high TSP players were hit harder than the low TSP players?

3. Can you elaborate more on the mentioned loopholes, or at least what you consider to be a loophole in general?

Thanks for taking the time, @Marin.

I am a very long term player of BB, started in season 4 and really enjoyed the game for many years. Thanks for contributing to this experience.
However, during the past years I feel the game is not progessing in a positive way any more.

My biggest concerns are the following:
- Having success in any higher league depends almost exclusively on the starting five. Backups hardly make a difference.
- Training is disincentivised from a certain point because it hampers long term economic feasibility as salaries rise too much and lowers expeced transfer revenue. Some "almost" NT-like players with 150 TSP often only trade for a few thousand dollars, while some average 115TSP guy trades for way more.
- Incentive to traij your own draftees is minimal. My former draftee (today 153k salary) gets me lousy 11k marketing revenue (in D1).

Do you also feel that the game may improve in these points?

Without having thought everyting through in detail, I think that the game would benefit much from a hard player-salary cap of ~150k, combined with a significant increase in exhaustion.

Hi Marin!

After the draft, I have noticed some discrepancies between the scouting reports and the generated rookies, for example B+ rookies having a higher salary than A- rookies for the same position (I'm talking about the salary before the update) or rookies scouted as SG that were in fact SF once generated. Could it be that the scouting was initially based on the old formula and that during the season it switched to the new one?
Given the new salary formula, will you also change the evaluations for the rookies during scouting?

With the changes affecting the salary of most players above 180k+, how do you expect B3 or top teams to run? With exhaustion implemented a few seasons back (good addition!) and now these salary hikes, but no extra source of income in the game, how do these teams function?

Why is passing for PG costs that much?

It's seems strange to me that if I have legendary passing on PG, I'm basically not allowed to have any other usefull skill in legendary, cause his salary will be around 300k. I can't think of PA 20 PG build that is worthy of NT and does not costs 350k weekly.

Hi Marin,

1. What's the aim of making IS more expensive for guards? Is this change going to affect cap too? Is limiting offensive skill going to reduce low-scoring matches?

2. Why not just to make it cheaper to train JR, PA for guards, IS for bigs? it would give freedom to choose or create new builds.

3. Do you think by eliminating those salary-effective "loopholes" will create more balance, but not a situation where higher salaries will be biggest factor of winning?

Also, do you think it's the right way to add these extra updates without any notice?
