From the Game Manual:
- One extra promotion spot will be awarded to the team with the best regular season record (conference ranking being the most important criteria).

We are having a debate in our community which team will promote, together with the league champion:
- Team #1, which had the 2nd best regular season record (20-2) and they are 2nd in their conference, or
- Team #2, which had the 4th best regular season record (18-4), but they are 1st in their conference

They play in the same league in opposite conferences. Both eliminated in the playoffs. So who will promote?

So, remind me again how it works?


The wild-card ranking sorts all teams in the division nationally, in this order:

Conference standing (1st beats 2nd, etc.)
Win count (not losses; more is better)
Walkovers / forfeits — games lost by forfeit (fewer is better)
Point differential
Points for
BuzzerBeater team ID (final tiebreaker — lower ID wins)
