I never said I was against a gradual implementation. In fact, I think a two-season adjustment period for the new system would work better. My reaction was specifically to the user arguing that further lowering the hoarding tax would make the game less enjoyable. I simply don’t agree with that argument.
As for the change itself, I am very much in favor of it.
Under the current tax system, if a team has $25,000,100 in the bank, they pay just $10 per week in tax. Under the newly announced system, that same team would pay roughly $2M per week. That is a massive difference, and in my opinion, a very positive change.
However, we also have to stay in touch with the current state of the game. We currently have 13,246 active managers in BuzzerBeater, and according to
(332758.3), around 1,200 teams have at least $10M in their banks, with many of them holding $20-25M. I don’t expect most of these managers to be the “serious” ones with an 8-10 season long-term development strategy, but we still have to acknowledge the sheer number of teams involved.
So yes, I agree with you that extending the adjustment period would be a sensible approach. I’m fully supportive of the tax change itself. I just think giving managers two seasons to adapt would make the transition much smoother.
