I noticed the same thing too. I have trainees that I want to get 48 minutes. I set them as backup and reserve. There are no foul trouble but I noticed that they usually only play 47 minutes. And this has happened quite often now. It would seem like they are being deliberately subbed for 1 minute as to not achieve a full training :D

This also is not a sure thing. Subs can happen with this tactic too.

I always set them as starter, backup and reserve. This works in all the cases but 2:

1) If you are winning by a blowout and there are players in the selected roster that are not assigned a role.
In this case, if your player x has not been assigned any role, he will play the last minutes for your trainee.

My solution is to always select as many players as I need. No more. So I select the normal starters and subs. And I select the trainee.
If monoposition, your selection should be (max.) 9 players. 4 starters + their subs and your trainee.
If you train for 2 positions, it should be 8. The trainees should be starter, backup and reserve at their respective positions.

2) If your trainee commits 6 fouls. Nothing to do here, it happens :(. If your trainee makes 6 fouls every week, try to train his Defensive skills first, he will commit lesser fouls. (I think I read this somewhere in a C trainee guide).

Edit: Of course the substitutions setting in tactics has to be: Follow Depth Chart

All of this worked well in my memories but I've had my 19yo trainees playing only 44 & 45min (SF-PF) during my last two games.
First it was in a cup game so I thought it was a bad behaviour from the new GE with exhaustion, but then it happened again in a league game.

I don't know why the GE behaves like that but it's really annoying cause then it doesn't give full training to some of the trainees.

Many seasons ago, I remembered there were unwanted substitutions during the last minute of a blowout game but now it happens in the middle of the 4th qt. Is it a new bug ? Can something be done ?

If I had to guess I would say it is because your players have 1 or 2 stamina, same thing happenned to me as well so I am forced to dress 4 players + my trainee, which really messes up my minutes since all 3 of my trainees have 1 or 2 stamina...

I also thought about it but these guys are 6 and 8 stamina.
No foul trouble, no injury, good stamina, no mistake in the lineup or at least I do as I always did and as it is advised here... But they're only playing 44 or 45 min, no matter if it's cup or league game.

And it also messes up with my game shapes (+4 or 8 min a week for my starting 5) + hard to get full training for my trainees

I never had this before. Who subs them out? In my case there is no back-up player who can sub for them unless they have 6 fouls or an injury.
Can you link a game where this happened?

EDIT:

I saw your last cup game, weird. Should not happen in the last GE. Maybe it has something to do with the exhaustion update?

I was surprised as well. To me there's something newly wrong here, and it's worse than the usual 47min game for a trainee, which the BBs did rightly counter with lowering the minutes needed for full training.

These are my last two games, each time follow depth chart with the right amount of available players, no foul trouble, no injury, and only 6+ stamina players.

(120636490)
Thorel - Girard x2
Martins - Amblard x2
Hunter x3
Ibero x3

Dzwigala x3

My two trainees + Dzwigala got subbed by Thorel and Martins. First substitution as soon as the garbage time starts (arount the last minute of the 3rd qt) and then the playing time at SF and PF positions is shared between these 5 players.
Which resulted in messing up with Thorel and Martins' minutes (35 and 38min while it was a blowout, as expected...) + one of my trainees not getting full training.

(119628772)
Girard - Lampe x2
Amblard - Dzwigala x2
Hunter x3
Ibero x3

Thorel - Alexandrakis x2

Again both my trainees have been replaced by Thorel and Amblard, again as soon as the garbage time starts then playing time at SF and PF is shared by them 4, and again it messed up with training and expected playing time.
