I had the exact question as you in my cup game played 12/5/22. bb-marin answered that its the exhaustion rule. The rule applies in all games except league matches for sure, and probably friendlies.

Dont get too caught up with semantics, tired or exhausted it doesnt matter much, with the new engine its highly unlikely a player over 27 will get over 42 minutes

which his player didn't. as far as I can see, his subs were playing a healthy 12 minutes and starters around 36 minutes. unless he has atrocious stamina across the board, this result would be considered extremely surprising comparing with other known games IMHO

and I don't seem to see any obvious exhaustion effect from your cup game (either you or your utopia team)? mind point out which game you were referring to?

Ι think what happened is probably gonna be a normality from now on check my recent cup game

(120623286)

I was up the first 3 periods and in the 4th he had like 80 % success from 3 point shots which never happened with the old engine. The only logical explanation is that he had much better stamina, this is the 3rd game with the exhastion rule that a game totally changes in the 4th quarter.

I think you are getting different games and try to mixing them up which isn't helping clarifying the issue:

in the forum discussion you listed above, you were saying minutes are being reduced for exhausted players, which is true.

in the game where you think you lost a big lead in the 4th quarter, your SF was explicitly described as exhausted in the play by play and we know the exhaustion effect kicked in - and during the three minutes where your SF was exhausted but remained on the court, your team went from leading by 7 points to trailing by 1 points, pretty much showing the effect of exhaustion

on the other hand the game in question does not have any player being described as "exhausted", nor was any of his starter getting 40+ minutes. If there is tiredness, it should be pretty close to his opponent's tiredness, and the scoring margin were definitely a lot more surprising then the games in your case

if you follow the recent 2 seasons posts about GE changes, you should already know that 3-2 zone is killing everything. The recent 2 b3 champions both play 3-2 zone as primary strategy and defeated teams supposed to be better under old GE's views.

IS/ID become less useful because the inside shots FG% drop and turn out much more randomly when guarded by zone defenses.

In my simulations the home team won 92.5% of the time. Is that just bad luck?

Thanks for response - really appreciate that.
But taking above into account: there was absolutely no element of the game that could drive these 7.5% of results (rebounds were neutralized by turnovers [flow]).
My point is: How should we read the stats vs win probability? Is it like average of all results or just despite the diff in points probability coming from stats the opponent had a lot of luck with shots made while i had a lot of bad luck?
