Garrido First Chunks HOF Inductee

Today brought sad news to New York Chunks fans everywhere, as long-time favorite Delfino Garrido was sold to Russian Dzhuma-team. However, before the transaction was finalized, the Chunks honored Garrido as the team's first member of the Chunks Hall of Fame, retiring his number 43.

One of two original players from the Chunks' inaugural Season 4 still on the team, Garrido was the team's steadiest, most consistent player from the very beginning. For a time, often starting along side teammates Nickolas Gaffney and Eric Paz, Garrido was the player most likely to come up big in critical games. Garrido was the most important piece of the Chunks teams that dominated in Divisions IV and III.

Unfortunately for Garrido, with the Chunks' success, the competition become much stronger in Division II. To stay competitive, the Chunks had to upgrade at his power forward position, and his role was soon limited to Cup Tournament lineups where he could thrive against lesser players, or as a minutes-eater in meaningless games. Lately, it had become apparent that his time has come to move on for both his sake and the sake of the team.

Garrido stands to return to his steady numbers and strong performances on a Division III team in Russia. But before he goes, the Chunks have taken one last moment to honor his legacy as a New York Chunk, and his banner has been raised in Rat Hole Arena.
