NBBA Bound!!

After 1045 days as a franchise, the Arizona Desert Storm are heading to the NBBA! After winning the toughest USA D2 league in BB History by defeating World Idea Toys in 3 Games. The highlight of the season came in the Conference Championship when the team hosted the Reston Thumpers. Reston took control early leading 38-20 on Arizona's home court, before Arizona seized control, and finsihed the game 73-47 to advance to the finals. Arizona was dominant in Game 1 of the championship, winning 99-76. World Idea seemed resigned to the fact that Arizona was too strong to overcome on their home floor, and cleared payroll before Game 3 by moving some players. With little resistance in the 3rd and decisive game of the series, Arizona won the series clinching game 118-70.

This season was quite special for the fanchise! Here are the highlights:

* Just prior to the start of the season, Arizona acquired NT Sensation Lorenzo Bland to join an already strong core.

* Defeated the #1 team in the country in the National Cup Tournament.

* Completed their flag collection after a deep cup run.

* Arizona Matches Bullish Mentality's II.4 all-time best 21-1 record.

* Lorenzo Bland named League MVP.

* In what may be the highest combined payrolls in a D2 playoff game, Arizona and Reston played the conference finals with nearly 1.5 million of combined player salaries.

* Arizona defeats World Idea Toys 118-70 to win the Championship in 3 games!

All-Time Franchise Highlights:

* Arizona heads to the NBBA with an all time record of 167-67, a winning percentage of .713. Excluding the two season in which Arizona rebuilt, and "tanked" they have an All-time record of 161-29, and winning percentage of .847.

* The Desert Storm have won 78% of their homes going 90-26 overall, and in non "tanking" seasons, they are an impressive 87-7 all-time.

* In 11 completed seasons Arizona has made the finals 8 times, and 8 out of 9 times not counting the 2 "tanking" seasons, having won the Championship 5 of those times.

Although Arizona reaches the pinnacle of USA Basketball by joining the NBBA, the road will only get tougher! The Desert Storm will join the best of the best, and first have to figure out how to compete, and stay there before even thinking about being a title contender. That said, I am definitely looking foward to the opportunity to continue to learn from, and compete with the best of the best!
