Desert Storm give Foote the Boot!

In a move that proves the Organization is admitting it made a mistake in acquiring big man Ron Foote, the team parts ways with him after just 13 games. Team officials have yet to comment but an unnamed source says that team owner Jason Stevens has been fuming over the costs associated with acquiring Foote, and his exorbitant salary. The team has never been known as being overly frugal but they never felt they were getting the value from Foote on the court, verses what it was costing them.

Everyone in the organization has been silent thus far on whether they are going to stand pat and try to recover some of their losses; or whether they will add some pieces to stay in the playoff race. Despite their frustrations, the team is riding a 5 game win streak, is 8-5, sitting in 3rd place in the Great 8. They also have the leagues second best point differential. Despite being #3 in both points scored and points given up, it's not translating to road wins.

The Coaching staff and ownership became increasingly frustrated as the team lost 3 close road games where they let the game slip away in the closing minutes of games, and Ron Foote particularly seemed to disappear in those games, often deferring to his teammates rather than taking control and leading his team to victory.

The Party is also over for Small Forward Halliday....After spending an incredible amount of money to acquire him, team officials often watched him enjoy bench time late in crucial times of the game either because he had fouled out, or was close to fouling out. Halliday was never known for being a fouler prior to joining the Desert Storm but the guy just can't seem to play defense anymore without hacking players. It's gotten so bad, that he quickly has redefined his reputation as a fouler, that he's been picking up an obscene amount of offensive fouls as well. In 19 games with the Desert Storm counting cup and Private League games Hacking Halliday fouled out a whopping 6 times!

Arizona wasted no time cutting their losses with the problematic players and appear to be assessing what direction to go in. Stay tuned.
