Arizona puts Victory Parade on Hold!

Arizona and Delta 9 met up on a Neutral court Thursday night to determine the Champion of the USA National Tournament. This game was tightly contested for the first half before a surprise visitor gave an inspiring speech in the Desert Storm locker room at halftime. Turns out with Sarah Palins daughter living in Arizona for a while, Sarah became a fan of the Arizona Desert Storm. She entered the locker room at halftime a gave a passionate talk to the team that truly inspired them!! PG Filimon Danila said "I wasn't sure if was supposed to run out and vote, or play my basketball...since I am not a U.S. citizen I just went out and played my best basketball" he said grinning.

Locked at 24 after one quarter, everyone in the building seem to sense that Arizona would pull away in the 2nd quarter, but it never happened. Delta 9 hung tough, and every time Arizona would string a couple of baskets together, Delta would answer. As it was, it took free throws with no time on the clock for Arizona to even leave the 1st quarter tied, let alone trailing. The Desert Swarm defense definitely stepped up in the 2nd quarter, but it didn't help the offense very much...that said, Arizona did have a little momentum going into halftime, and a 4 point lead, 46-42.

Following the inspiring message from Sarah Palin, Arizona came out of the locker room looking like a different team! Their defense became even more smothering, but at this point, the great defense was leading to some easy transition baskets for the offense. Arizona started the 3rd on a 16-4 run to pretty much put it away early in the half. Arizona went on to win this Championship final 94-71.

Arizona held Delta 9 to just 29 second half points ending their hopes of an upset. PG Donnelly and SF Pyllka for Delta did all they could to keep their team in the game, but they didn't get enough support from the rest of their teammates. Arizona's PF Bessarab scorched the nets with 34 points and also added 19 boards. Wilder dominated the glass piling up 20 boards and chipped in 16 points as well. Danila struggled shooting the ball, but dished out 11 assists, and Zvonc also dished out 9 giving the backcourt 20 assists between them. It's very tough to slow down the Arizona offense when their guards are distributing like that!

While in the midst of planning the Victory parade, team and city officials put their plans on hold, to hear what Coco has to say. After last seasons stinging indictment of the weakness of their Championship run, everyone in Arizona is on Pins and Needles to hear what the BB guru has to say, and make sure they have his approval with this championship victory. Without his approval apparently, this just won't mean anything, and the city will keep the confetti in the boxes.

0-2 and a loss in the Cup ??

What are your thoughts on season 27? AZ fans want to know ... (and so do Delta 9 fans) ...

Very frustrating Dmitri! I was selling Wilder, and waiting for the dust to settle on my roster before setting my lineup for that game...I was aware during the day I needed to set it...and when arrived to do that, someone showed up at my office and I got into a lengthy discussion with them and missed my chance to set my lineup...Pretty painful to let $50K a week for a while go out the door. Ohhh well, time to move forward!
