Terrible Performance By Team Against the Tornados

In what Smedlock called one of the most frustrating performances of his management career, Eclyzpe lost to the Broken Arrow Tornados 88-104 despite shooting 50% from the field. Smedlock called his team's performance "sloppy, undisciplined and simply unacceptable". Going into the match, the team felt that the game would be close and could be decided either way. But the truth was that the team was never really in this game, down by 20 or more for most of the game.

One look at the box score and one can see how poor the performance was, the plethora of turnovers and the lack of rebounding; both of which are areas that are normally strengths for Eclypze teams. But that doesn't tell the whole story. The two newly acquired stars, Pechini and Andersson, who Smedlock is paying huge salaries to specifically win tough road games such as this one, were absolutely ineffective in this game. Anderson scored most of his points in garbage time in the fourth quarter and had many turnovers. Andersson is supposed to be a great defensive player as well but it didn't show tonight as he allowed far less skilled shooters to make many jumpers and threes throughout the night.

But the worse performance has to be saved for last and that was Pechini's. Heralded as a rebounding and dunking monster, Pechini showed none of it last night. Amazingly he had 0 points, 1 offensive rebound and only one shot attempt going into the fourth quarter. He completely disappeared on the team's offense. And he was getting dunked on all night by Tornado's bigs. He only managed to score a few points in the last few minutes in the game against Tornado's third string. Smedlock stated that this is probably the worst performance by anyone in the history of Eclypze and it was done by it's highest salaried player ever.

It is not known how much longer these two players will remain Eclypze members with performances like these. Smedlock will likely give these new players a chance to get back into game shape and acquire some enthusiasm before making a final judgment, but last night's game does not bode well for them or the team.
