Season 6

Dog River returns Tuesday to the friendly confines of the Dog Kennel for their home opener against the Killer Bruises. The Dogs opened their season Saturday night with a 114-95 win over a stubborn Long Finger team. With seven players in double figures,—led by Danny Justice, Jose Nickerson and Freddy "The Hammer" Davila, all with 18 points—the Dogs hope to live up to early season expectations.

With a 20-2 record last season the team was once again denied a berth in the league finals when their team MVP C Gianvito Cucija went down with an injury before the playoffs. But Dog River returns all the key members of last year's club and once again looks to improve. With 5 new teams—4 IV champions and a former Div II team—and perennial powerhouses Lokomotiv Atlanta, New Haven Chargers and Killer Bruises along with two national team players, this league—III.4—continues to be one of the most competitive leagues in the division. And the Dogs need to improve to keep pace.

GM Pappy ODaniel has boosted the Dog Kennel to over 10,000 seats and looks for a nice crowd tomorrow night to inspire the River Dogs. Pappy closed by pointing out that each fan at the game will receive a Jose Nickerson bobblehead in honor of Nick's unanimous league MVP of season 4.
