Wednesday Update

Last night's game, 7:28 to go: The once boisterous sellout crowd of 18180 were seemingly sitting on their hands. The Riverdogs had seen their 8-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter quickly evaporate. Powerful Slashing Dragons (of the Big 8) had just scored to go up by 3, 75-72. Coach Jose Nickerson signaled Zika "Z" Ilicevic to try to get the ball to "The Fuse." Seconds later—and true to his nickname—Michaelangelo Fuso had reignited the crowd with his 4th 3-pointer to tie the game. Then less than 2 minutes later, Fuso again nailed a 3-pointer to allow the Riverdogs to regain the lead. Then moments later, with the Riverdogs clinging to a slim 81-80 lead, Fuso scored the next 6 points to propel the Dogs to a 7-point margin, 88-81.

The Dragons could get no closer for the rest of the contest. Highlights of the 100-87 win for the Riverdogs—moving their record to 7-3— were Fuso's 33 points (5-8 3FGs), Edward "E-Will' Williams' normal solid game with 14 rebounds and Victor "Lucas" Lucena's monster game with 19 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks. His consecutive FT streak ended as 20 when he missed a 2nd-quarter attempt. He then made his last 6 Fts to begin another streak. For the season, Lucena has hit 29 of 30 FTs.

Next up for the Riverdogs is tomorrow's Cup game when the team hosts Ararat BC, a nice Div III team. Making his first appearance for the Riverdogs will be 21 year old PG Roee "Yakov" Ya'akobovitch who was acquired Sunday from the Japanese Div I team Sharman Gamethrowers. Tipoff will be the normal 7 P.M. at the Dog Kennel.

Nice update!! Interesting, my PF has gone 37/39 from the Free Throw line...His misses? Yeap, last night! After going 28/28 or whatever he was to start the season, he started the game 2/4 before making the rest. I guess last night was a bad night for excellent free throw shooters!!

I should have never said anything!! Since my last post, Coda has gone 2/5 and 1/2 from the free throw line, ugh!! That said, he went 12/15 and 7/11 shooting in those games, so its not all bad! But lke I always screem at my favorite NBA players: Don't miss your Free Throws!!!!!!!!! They are FREEEEEEE!!!
