Mid-Season

Pappy O'Daniel reported this morning that a huge thunderstorm over the Upper Midwest Saturday afternoon caused one of the two small planes used by the Riverdogs to make a safe emergency landing—and stay grounded. Thus it was that the starting five players on that plane missed the entire road game with the Machines. Pappy filed an official protest with the league office when the game was not delayed or postponed. "Not that it will do any good, but the whole thing was handled poorly," remarked Pappy. Fielding a makeshift lineup and trailing by only one point after 3 quarters, the Riverdogs simply ran out of gas and lost 80-59. Leading the way with 25 points and 23 rebounds—playing all 48 minutes—was ironman Victor "Luke" Lucena. Chipping in with 11 rebounds and 20 points was newcomer "Mad Max" Sammiller who was forced to play the SF position.

Next up for the Riverdogs is a Tuesday home Cup game against Red Storm Il. This Div III team is led by SG Amedeo Dormi (17.0 ppg) and PF Cedric Cailli (8.6 rpg). The Riverdogs will be looking to advance into the 8th round with a win.

In related team news, the conference All-Star teams were announced this afternoon. With all 10 of the Great 8 selections coming from the first division teams, the Riverdogs are proud to be represented by the starting C, Edward "E-Will" Williams. His vote total of over 77,000 was nearly 24K more that the runnerup. This year's game will take place at the (Phoenix Blue) Suns Arena.

UGH!! Emergency landing, huh? Mechanical failure? I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but perhaps your opponent had something to do with this? I mean, they are the Machines, Mean machines in fact!!

Just throwing it out there!

Sweet, Jason! You know maybe you're right, maybe the Machines did have something to do with it:-)
