A New Season

The Dog River Riverdogs last month completed their first full year in Div IV winning their conference with a 19-3 record. However, without the services of their injured veteran PF Jose Nickerson—the unanimous winner of the league's MVP award—the 'Dogs lost a close SF game to the eventual league champion Troypert.
As their new season begins in Division III, Dog River has high hopes for a playoff berth. With a young but veteran team, the 'Dogs are off to a good 3-0 start in the Big 8 conference of the III.4 league. With only 3 original team members left on his roster—Nickerson, C Ray Chad, and SF Walter "The Stick" Amaya—Coach McCauley will be trying to blend his new players with his nucleus of young returnees, often referred to as the "Wild 5"—C Gianvito Cucija, SF Danny "Give Me" Justice, G Tyrell "Fidel" Castro, SG Michael Frame and swingman Joaquim Perejoan. Draftees PF Freddy "The Hammer" Davila, SG Ernie "Lights Out" Blanton and C Russ Winkler join recent additions SG Pedro Echalecu and C Fernando Serrano Ezquerra in providing real depth to Mac's squad.
A much larger Dog Kennel awaits the return of the team from their successful 2-game road trip. Owner Pappy ODaniel has continued to expand the league's largest arena. Two luxury boxes, for the owners of Corner Gas and the Ruby Cafe, are also under construction.
